The KM way…

After the KM retreat… we were no longer grappling with smoke… we got lost in the smoke… kidding aside, it was fun but 1 day evidently wasn’t enough. We didn’t hit the retreat ground running, we splattered ourselves thinly all over the place. A quick analysis would probably show several reasons:

  1. Confusion on the actual retreat date – due to typos and date changes
  2. Not enough time to level off participants’ expectations
  3. Basic speaker mistake of assuming what the participants know – language/jargon mistake
  4. Torn facilitator – I am a facilitator but I want to be a participant, too!
  5. Panicking cook

All in all, I cannot say yet whether it was successful in meeting our defined objectives. We’ll have to wait for the Retreat Report. However, it was loads of fun because I was able to get loads of candid shots which I hope to post soon enough… BWAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!

go placidly…

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,

and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.

Those are the first three lines of Max Erhmanns’ Desiderata. Imagine! He was alive around the 1920s and he was talking about noise and haste… I wonder what he’d be saying now if he were alive… maybe noise and haste would be replaced with chaos and confusion… it’s oftentimes hard to find a nice quiet place where you can hear yourself… my usual peace time is early mornings just before the break of dawn when I’m lucky enough to be awake by that time. Other times its during the wee hours of the night when by some miracle and I’m not yet soo tired… it’s around these times when the air is cool, the city is far off in dreamland and you can actually hear and feel yourself… existing.

Yesterday was a rollercoaster day… ups and downs and sudden turns. I’m just thankful there is a God. My favorite boss is as usual being selfish. Work lang nya important… kahit sya lang who thinks it is. Being the Leader in name-dropping, you do the same and name drop to survive.

So to survive today… I will go placidly… to the KM retreat at the Edsa Shangri-La Mall and remember what peace there may be under the shade of the giant umbrella by the garden view swimming pool. Ciao!

holy smoke… stupid white men

i just finished reading anna and jane campion’s book, Holy Smoke. It’s about a woman, Ruth, who went joined a cult. Her family did everything to get her back, they even hired PJ Waters, a deprogrammer to bring her back to her old self… whatever that is. It’s pretty interesting, exotic, sensual and mind boggling… it’s about inner struggles and society’s expectations. It’s a good read but not recommended for everyone.

And now, I’m reading Michael Moore’s Stupid White Men… It recounts the story leading to George Dubya’s take over of the White House… I only got to page 12 and had to stop because I felt so upset with Bush. We’ll see how it unfolds…
