changes and accomplishments

I’m so happy… I finally managed to submit the first draft of my final paper for my masters in environmental management in Ateneo-USF… although it still lacks maps “” At least I got that one out of the way. Now, it’s up to my advisers to review and point out where to expound and substantiate. And while they’re busy reading, I should really use this time to create my digital maps… really, I should… but its SOOOO TEDIOUS “” And to think I’m only working on ONE BARANGAY, the smallest political unit!

Aside from that, I also have a new office lair… it comes with the redesignation of my position. I also have a new number, single and unattached to any of my bosses’ phone lines. It’s pretty quiet here though we can’t really make much noise because we’re near our conference room but at least I got an atrium view… the second most coveted work area here in the Bank… the first being the window side. I also inherited a laser printer MWAHAHAHAHA

hang over

After all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, we find ourselves back in the daily conundrums of our so called life. Looking back, it was this holiday season where actually went on vacation from work… haaayyy sooo relaxing and productive, too. It allowed me to work on my paper. Yes! That one last requirement before I get my master’s diploma… “

I had quite an interesting vacation. 10 glorious days of eating, sleeping and quiet merry making. On both occasions, I went to a reunion of families I wasn’t really a member of. Christmas was with my mom’s sister-in-law in Bulacan and New Years in Bicol with Joy’s cousins’ get together. It was an interesting experience, fun even. I was a stranger amidst family merrymaking and seeing their quirks made me wonder what my own family’s quirks are. I saw antics and practices of what could possibly be “Filipino” peculiarities… there was the seldom used dining room (we all ate at the garage), picture of the last supper in the dining area, having the radio, the tv and the videoke turned on even when everyone else were eating/talking, and what topped it all was the refrigerator in the living room.

Sadly, even good things have to end… and so I find myself trudging back to Manila. Come Monday morning, it was both a relief and funny to find out everyone else at the office were still reeling from their on vacations. It was a subdued Monday morning, unlike what I was used to… well, except the traffic, it was horrible. It was like we were all in slow motion, with the pace eventually getting faster and faster, picking up from last year.

2005

happy 2005… after all the merry making, the tsunami was a giant “boink” on our heads reminding us of our own mortality and that mother nature is still a very strong force we have yet to fathom…
