tooth ouch

I just had a dental surgery to remove and extra tooth and a missing tooth now found. I had a series of dental x-rays leading to the discovery of a tooth my long lost lower incisor that apparently refused to come out and instead decided to lie horizontally so it can hit my cuspid!

I am now waiting for my stitches to heal… I miss playing my water sports

‘A fool and her money are easily parted’

I was a fool in Bangkok and my money left me without saying goodbye. I went to Bangkok over the weekend to meet up with a friend/officemate flying in from Hanoi at 10:45pm at the airport by the baggage carousel. I was excited, we woke early Saturday morning to meet a friend… at 8:30 we were at Starbucks along Sukhumvit road catching up and by 9am we were at the train station to Chatuchak weekend market. It was already bustling with early shoppers and vendors; the place was a melting pot of tourists and locals. My nose could had a love affair with the enticing aroma of food wafting from the many small food stalls and noodles vendor weaving amidst the throng of bargain hunters.

Despite a hefty breakfast, at 10 am I succumbed to the prodding of my nose and tummy to graze as the locals do. We heaved our packages to a nearby food stall and ordered pad thai, pork knuckles with rice (I disavow any knowledge of my vegetarian diet), and a chicken dish. Each bite was heavenly; an explosion of flavors, albeit simple and soothing. Rejuvenated from this simple repast, we trudged forward for more bargain hunting

This shopping mecca is beyond words … an item regularly priced at 300-400 baht in one store could be on sale for 100 baht in another I found my resolve not to shop for myself quickly eroding, I just couldn’t resist it! Soon I found myself pulling a wheely bag already full of merchandise.

After a sumptuous lunch, we trudged and trudged until it too hot to continue We said goodbye to Chatuchak and headed off to Ma Boon Krong shopping center, more popularly known as MBK. We headed straight to where they sell Naturalizer shoes and I bought 3 pairs (2 pairs were for friends). Suffice it to say that after a couple more hours, we were depleted… both physically and monetarily… but it was FUN!

When I got back to Manila, my friends said my stay in Bangkok was too short… I disagree! Had I stayed longer, I would have done serious damage to my bank account
