new family member

This is our new puppy… we haven’t figured out what to name him yet but he’s quite frisky and could become quite pesky. He’s still very tiny but very demanding. He does only 2 things– sleeping or gnawing. He’s a mongrel and very cute like all puppies are cute. And because he’s still cute, my mom is very accommodating with him… she lets him sleep inside the house, even beside her at times… because he’s crying. As you can see, he doesn’t just sleep anywhere, it has to be cushy and warm. But wait a couple of months and he’ll probably be stationed outside the house, at the garage where our other still cute dogs are. But if he behaves badly, he’ll be sent outside into the backyard where he can do less harm. We’ll see how this puppy behaves… but right now, we’re still figuring out what to name him.

rebel’s first steps

Last weekend, we went to Manila–the Orchidarium and Rizal Park–to play with my new toy… the Canon 350D Rebel XT. Here are some of my more successful shots led by my favorite…

pacman fever and more

Sunday was a great day for many Filipinos… at 12 noon or 2:45pm for those of us without pay-per-view… we witnessed manny Manny Pacquiao beat Erik Morales by TKO on the 10th round. The fight was exciting because both boxers were able to parry each others blows and come up with a counter punch. But we didn’t have to wait for the 12th round… as early as the 6th round, the game changed, Morales seemed to show signs of fatigue. And while he was still able to give Pacquiao several good counter punches, he stumbled and fell on his knees on the 10th. It was one of the most exciting boxing matches I’ve ever seen though limited they may be.

Monday morning was abuzz with the boxing victory… but I thin I might have been biten by the flu bug. While everyone is high with the Pacquiao Fever, I am feverish and suffering a headache…

i have a new baby!

Well, figuratively of course! I just bought my first ever digital SLR camera through a friend of mine. The price was very reasonable compared to the malls where it costs around 60,000 pesos.

I have been agonizing and saving up every penny I can for this camera for the longest time… Ok, I didn’t save that hard that’s why it took me quite a long time… but my new camera (I just love saying that…) is a Canon 350D a.k.a Rebel XT.

It has been quite unbearable waiting for it to arrive after my friend told me she has shipped it and would take 3-4 days… So imagine my anxiety and excitement come the 3rd day of waiting… then, the much anticipated phone call… I dropped everything I was doing and rushed to our receiving area… I pretended to be cool about it but as soon as I got to my workstation, I ripped the box open and cradled my new baby in my arms. I got gas… gear acquisition syndrome hehehe… when you just want to stop everything you’re doing so you can focus on your new gear … I so wanted to go home and get my lens so I can start shooting already. But that has to wait I still have work to finish plus my underwater hockey game.

back to reality

TRAFFIC!!! Well, ok, that may be exaggerating it… but there were more cars today on my way to work. I guess a lot of people really extended their vacations plus the fact that by now, all schools have resumed classes. I dread what Monday would be like… I hope I wake up early enough.

Our office didn’t have work on January 2 so my first day back to office was January 3. But then again, my boss is on leave this whole week so you can say that I have an “extended holiday.” This led me to decide to do some office spring cleaning… operative word being “decided”… I have not yet executed You see, my desk is quite orderly although there are piles of work to be sorted and filed… a real drudgery! One never is quite up to date in terms of filing, at least not me. However, I do know what documents are in which pile… I have had many opportunities to shuffle through them, though not frantically, so I have “memorized” each pile’s content.

So maybe today, I can actually execute what I have decided… wish me luck
