scary mouse

As with any lunch hour, my officemates and I normally stroll in the mall after eating. Today was no different except that several shops were on sale. Off to the shoe stores we went, trying on styles that caught our fancy. Then came a shriek… from us… not because we found the deal of the century but because we saw this…

We hurriedly left the store after calling the attention of the shopkeepers. On hindsight, the mouse looked kinda cute but at that moment cuteness was far from our minds and a cartoon rendition would have been adorable. One thing I learned from this experience… always look before you try on anything… you’ll never know when a mouse got to it before you did.

Galileo Enoteca Deli and Wine

I’ve been hearing a lot about Galileo Enoteca along Calbayog cor. Malinao St. in Mandaluyong and once we tried to see if we could eat there, the place was jam packed. So, the 2nd time, we made a reservation and arrived early which was a good thing because they seemed to have no record of our reservation. The menu is quite limited because it is a deli/wine cellar, first and foremost, but it seemed promising. There was a set menu for PhP400.00 and includes fresh olives, cheese and cold cuts platter, entrée (pasta or risotto), a glass of wine and coffee. Seeing that the pasta/risotto choices for the set menu were no different from the ala carte, we opted to for the set. At that time, they were serving sausage and tomato pasta, mushroom risotto and pasta pomodoro.

We both ordered their table wine (red) which was very good and was delighted by the abundance of the olives, cheese and cold cuts platter. Unfortunately I can’t recall the different types of cold cuts and cheeses but I think we had grana padano, gorgonzola and emmenthal. For the entrée, I chose sausage and tomato pasta (yes, I occasionally eat meat) and my boyfriend chose the mushroom risotto. They were both yummy but I especially loved the mushroom risotto. The risotto was earthy and soo rich with mushroom flavor and was of very good consistency… not “malata” like how some risotto/rice dishes could be.

After eating as much of the entrée as we can, we capped it off with freshly brewed coffee. Aaahhh life and it’s simple pleasures… good food, good wine and great company… what could be better?

on being happy

Got this from the Daily Buddhist Wisdom website…

All those who suffer in the world do so because of their desire for their own happiness. All those happy in the world are so because of their desire for the happiness of others. — dhicaryavatara

busy bee…

Been quite busy lately I don’t even have time to chat (YM)… besides nothing really exciting except maybe the stampede that happened to where we play our underwater hockey.

A quick rundown on what’s been happening…

patchy puppy is still on two modes — sleep and gnawing. He’s actually becoming quite pesky and been accidentally trained to gnaw and pull at my pajamas every morning when I come down for breakfast. He takes a solid bite of one pajama leg and will tug and pull and “ggrrrrrr” while preparing my breakfast. He gets especially excited being dragged around while I move about with getting stuff from the ref, to the pantry, and back until I get to the breakfast table.

No uwhockey last Sunday (5 Feb) because one of our uwhockey friends figured in a car accident. Good thing there were no injuries, only a really wrecked car.

No uwhockey last Tuesday (7 Feb) because of the Saturday stampede at Ultra. The investigation/fact finding panel set up the interior government department is finished and the results turned over to the justice department. I think the saddest thing about this incident is that majority of the deaths were the old people.

Played uwhockey last Thursday (9 Feb) at AFP pool at the Fort… water was clean but not clear… escaped to the middle pool for a more “relaxed” uwh game hehehe.

Work has been quite hectic, as I mentioned, barely any time for YM… now, I have 2 meeting minutes that I need to finish before the day ends… I had to cancel my appointment with my Alexander Technique teacher…

Plus side… I’m going to Photo World Manila on Saturday, then to Lumban and Liliw in Laguna to check out barong materials and SHOES respectively.
