missing in action…
I’m on a 3-week vacation which explains why I haven’t posted much lately. Suffice it to say that I am having a grand time… freezing but grand nonetheless. I am in California visiting my sister and relatives. A quick rundown of what I’ve been up to:
4 March – arrive in LAX, brunch at San Pedro, go around Santa Barbara
5 March – Hearst Castle
6 March – Amtrak to Modesto, head to Groveland in Yosemite
7 March – snow storm but continue to Hetch Hetchy reservoir
8 March – Yosemite National Park, Sonora (shopping!!!)
9 March – big dinner cookout
10 March – drive to Alameda in SanFo
11 March – Pier 39, Fisherman’s wharf
12 March – Alcatraz
13 March – Golden Gate Bridge
14 March – Jelly Belly Factory, play underwater hockey in San Jose.
15 March – Golden Gate Park
16 March – drive to Santa Maria
and today… I am just bumming around… well, I’m actually doing my laundry now.
I will post pictures and more details of my California adventure. Gotta go check my laundry now and start thinking of what I’d want for lunch…

underwater hockey games…
Last night I thought we wouldn’t have enough players in Ultra to at least have an 5 on 5 game. But God as always, provided. The AFP pool was closed so the regulars and veterans joined our games at Ultra. There were a total of 25 players, enough to have 2 simultaneous games. I ended up playing at the “deeper” part of the pool together with another batchmate, a not so regular player, 2 vets and a UWH Nationals gold medalist from the US
really heavy stuff huh… we were up against a team of 5 veterans and 1 regular whose forte is to swim fast. It was doomed to be an uneven match up BUT because of determination and because ayaw namin mapahiya kasi newbie, our team led most of the time although the final score was 8-8.
I personally felt quite pressured to be in position as much as I can… I didn’t want to be the reason for our possible loss
So, we just tried to time our bottom times as best we could to anticipate passes and attempt steals. The games started slow, the veterans pacing it but as scores were made, the games got more and more intense especially since there are no sub outs
But, like any underwater hockey game, it was fun, full of heckling and the best part, there were no lectures ![]()
