Still rushing…
One more holiday to go… Christmas has come and gone and I am still rushing to buy gifts
It’s just that some people you didn’t expect you’d see sooner, others you just don’t know what to give.
I have an excel file for holiday gifts so I won’t forget anybody. Names are grouped according to how I know them like people from work, friends from dance, college, etc. and a column for how much my budget for their gifts. For kids, a column indicates their ages and red colored names indicate I’m their “ninang” because this determines how much I am willing to spend for them
It has formula that computes the ages based on year of birth so it updates automatically when I copy everything to a new sheet for the next year. I do this so I only have to change 1 cell and I won’t have to think whether I’ve updated the kids ages or not. I maintain 2 sheets one for the current and another for the previous year to avoid giving them the same stuff from the last year.
There is also a cell for the total amount so I know how much money I should have if I intend to give all of them gifts. Then, there are 2 columns to indicate what I actually bought and how much it cost me. My heart leaps every time I spend less than I budgeted.
As soon as you see how much you should spend, you really endeavor to find great bargains! It also tells us how short the peso can stretch these days. I realized I need to do year-round shopping to avoid overwhelming my shallow pockets.
Anyway, I have to rush and spend more…

more accounts
i just created a multiply account… i don’t know why and for the life of me i can’t remember the url… i think it’s msadventures… yeah… i think that’s it.
i already have trouble remembering my passwords and usernames and i just had to go and create another account. do you remember the days when you only had to choose between yahoo and hotmail… then i heard about lycos, eudoramail? then came sixdegrees, dialpad, google… now there are so many photo sharing, video sharing, blogging, mail groups, friends/networking, online banking, personal email and work email, etcetera etcetera.
at the office, i have access to several databases for project administration, budget maintenance and monitoring, office supplies requests, payslips, benefits, plus the office network. oh, did i mention that several of these databases require me to change passwords every couple of months and i can’t recycle passwords?
i used to have just 1 username and 3 passwords that i rotate, now when i change passwords for any of my office accesses, i also change passwords with my other accounts so i don’t have to remember as much. but because i change sooo often, i can’t remember 90% of them ayayayay!
i have yet to devise a system that will allow me to keep track of my usernames and passwords. right now, i only have a word file indexed by topic so i can click and go to know my user name and password. the only “protection” i have for it is a password… aacchhh that word again… to open the document.
it’s never ending… i’m doomed…

truth about reindeers
got this from my email… hehehe
REMEMBER THIS AT CHRISTMAS TIME
According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeers grow antlers in the summer each year, male reindeer drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to mid-December. Female reindeers retain their antlers till after they give birth in the spring.
Therefore, according to EVERY historical rendition depicting Santa’s reindeer, EVERY single one of them, from Rudolph to Blitzen, had to be a girl.
We should’ve known… ONLY women would be able to drag a fat-ass man in a red velvet suit all around the world in one night and not get lost.

holiday rush
I was finally able to squeeze in some additional shopping time. I managed to snag a really nice polo shirt for my cousin and it was soo dirt cheap even my mom couldn’t believe it! Also found a birthday gift for my office mate, a cute white top with tiny black polka dots and lace trim.
I also had to use up 1000 pesos worth of gift checks from Red Ribbon bake shop. I got it last Christmas from the office and forgot all about it. It was set to expire yesterday so I brought home a little feast from the gift checks… a whole platter of pancit palabok and lasagna. YUMMY!

neglect
I’ve been neglecting my blog… though I have nothing to blog about except the ramblings and rants I have about being overworked and tired and lazy and it’s the holidays and I have not wrapped any gifts nor am I done with shopping.
I have yet to find gifts for my teenage cousins. Boys are so much harder to buy gifts for unlike girls. Plus I have no idea what to give to my boyfriend and to my mom!
Last week was so hectic, had a signing event for one of my projects, training to attend, meetings to organize and attend plus a seminar to organize. I was hoping for a little slack this week but I guess I was wrong. Now I’m busy organizing another signing event plus attend a half day training. And I still have not done any gift wrapping.
