Oh Shoot
I took my first photography lessons from the FPPF, attending 4 Sunday sessions together with 2 friends and only 2 SLR cameras we borrowed from other friends. Lectures in the morning, shoot in the afternoon, surrender your film and see it the next week. Although a very technical topic, the teachers were engaging and encouraged us to keep on wanting to get better and better.
Through the years I’ve owned the following cameras…
- Nikon F60 – first SLR camera
- Nikon Coolpix 2500 – first digital camera, loved its nifty swivel lens
- Canon S1 IS – for more power and flexibility, great for prosumers, loved the swivel LCD
- Canon Rebel XT 350D – first Digital SLR, paired with a Tmron 70-300 lens
- Nikon D40 – return to Nikon
- Nikon D90 – the current love of my life, paired with the Nikkor 18-200 VR lens and 50mm f/1.8 lens
- Nikon FA – to retain my connection with the film days…

After seeing my friends get bitten by the shooter’s bug, I got envious and started reading photography lessons and tips again, getting reacquainted with concepts such as shutter speed, depth of field, and aperture. I also took a 2 day course with Ross Capili as the teacher, organized by my company’s camera club. I was hooked again.
After much badgering from my hubby, I needed to get more serious and take better shots. The universe must have heard my pleas because lo and behold, a friend of mine invited me to join a camera club.
And so, my photographing adventure re-unfolds…
